Jasmin Balance Interview – Nate Parker – A Black Man in America: An Authentic Voice

The unbelievably sweet actor and my dear friend, Nate Parker, turned 35 yesterday and his fantastic new film, Beyond the Lights, was just released this past weekend. Those are some pretty incredible reasons to celebrate, but I’d like to add another one to the lovely list.
You probably know Nate for his roles in highly acclaimed movies, alongside some of the most relevant actors in the business, such as The Great Debaters (2007) with Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker, The Secret Life of Bees (2008) with Queen Latifah and Jennifer Hudson, Red Tails (2012) with Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., and Non-Stop (2014) with Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.
With great pleasure, I’d like to share with you an unbelievably inspirational conversation that Hollywood’s next leading man and I had at 6 o’clock one morning, a warm, heart-to-heart talk that was intended to go in one direction, but that truly took an unexpected turn. I can’t get enough of the insight, wisdom and perspective of this soulful superstar, and I am sure that you will feel the same way too.
Watch Nate share the most intimate, the most delicate moments of his life, with the inclusion of growing up with only one parent in a housing project in Norfolk, Virginia, struggling with racism, making his authentic voice heard, and breaking the stereotypes of living, working, and creating as a black man in America.
Thank you for your courage to share your voice sweet Nate Parker.
