I know that my fame and wealth make people envy and sometimes even despise me. It really hurts a lot. How can I deal?
First comes first, you gotta understand where does envy and hate come from, because if you don’t understand where that’s coming from in other people you’re never gonna be able to have compassion for them. Envy, and pain, and hurt come from people who are feeling low, and who are trying so hard to pull themselves up. And they’ll do whatever they can to put other people down to make themselves feel better. So when they’re hating on you, when they’re despising you, when they’re envying you, it has a lot to do with them just feeling really less than. So if you can really understand that, then it’s easier to not take it so personally. And, granted, if it is personal, if it is something that, is something you can be doing better, you could be open to feedback, and understanding, and be willing to grow and change and evolve and not be scared of hearing what people have to say, if it’s something that you could be doing better. But it’s sometimes important to really decipher between someone who’s just hating on you because of their own weakness, versus someone who really cares about you, who’s really giving you feedback so that you can be your best self, because they love you.
So in sum, have compassion for people, for whatever it is that they’re going through. And, number two, is don’t make things personal if they’re not, but if they are, be willing to be self-reflective, to grow and change.
