8 Unexpected Causes of Stress

8 Unexpected Causes of Stress
Below are some common thought processes and perspectives that get triggered by stressful life events, and are the basis for why we feel stressed out.

  1. Discomfort with unknown
  2. Need for Control
  3. Pessimism
  4. Negative Self Talk
  5. Unrealistic Expectations
  6. Insecurity
  7. Perfectionism
  8. Lack of Assertiveness

When we think of stress, we often think of the external sources that “cause” our stress, i.e. “there are too many emails in my inbox.”  Whereas in truth, our thought patterns and frame of mind are what allow these external circumstances to affect us.  Two people could have the same stressful circumstance, and handle it completely differently based on their internal framework.
When we realize this, it helps us take the blame off the external circumstance ( life changes, work, relationship difficulties, financial problems, being busy, family, children etc) and deal with the real causes of our stress.
